This is my Totoro tattoo. I got it on the first of the year in 2011. It was done by Chowdah and Above All Tattoo in Pacific Beach, California.
I got this tattoo because Totoro was the first anime that I ever watched. My dad and I watched it together, all the time, throughout my childhood, and we have since had a tradition of watching all of the movies made by Hayao Miyazaki (the creator of Totoro). I chose to get this tattoo to celebrate my relationship with my dad, and also to show my love for anime, which has been present my whole life.

This is my first tattoo, and in light of recent events in my life, I felt it to be an appropriate time for this, and a step forward in letting go of the sadness and grief that always finds a way of eclipsing the things that are good, and pure; some things are everlasting, and sometimes I need to learn to let go.
